On Wednesday, February 15, the great feast of the Meeting of the Lord, Bishop Theodosius of Seattle, first vicar of the Western American Diocese, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City.
Concelebrating with His Grace were: cathedral dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff (cathedral cleric), and Protodeacon Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY).
The choir sang the divine service under the direction of Isaiah Trofimenko.
Despite its being a weekday, parishioners gathered to pray in the cathedral on one of the feasts most beloved by Orthodox Christians. Most of these communed of Christ’s Hoy Mysteries.
Upon completion of Liturgy, Bishop Theodosius addressed the faithful with a sermon on the feast, wishing those gathered that the Mother of God might always protect them under her omophorion.
