Richmond, VA: Matushka Helen Kalamaras reposed in the Lord

On the evening of Wednesday, September 28, beloved wife, mother, and Yiayia, Matushka Helen Kalamaras passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born Linda Covington in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of Randall and Pearl Covington, who predeceased her. She is survived by her husband, Archpriest Paul Kalamaras (rector of St. Gregory Palamas Mission in Richmond), and devoted son Gregory (wife Sandra); and adoring grandchildren Nathan and Colin.

A devout Orthodox Christian, Matushka Helen was a woman of great faith and kindness who always saw the good in others. She touched the lives of all those she met in life. Her love and commitment to her family, God, and friends was unconditional. Her life was centered around her family. Being a mother and grandmother brought her the greatest joy. She adored her grandsons and loved being their Yiayia.

On Wednesday, October 5, the funeral was held at St. Gregory Palamas Mission in Richmond, VA.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to those who have sent flowers, cards, well wishes, and prayers.

Memory eternal to the newly reposed handmaid of God Helen!
