In the evening on March 23, the Sunday of the Cross, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York performed the Sacrament of Holy Unction in Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn, NY.

Serving alongside His Eminence were Archpriests Andrei Sommer (dean of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City), Vasily Zelenyuk (rector of Unexpected Joy Church on Staten Island, NY), Paul Ivanov (parish rector), Leonid Goferman (rector of Holy Virgin Protection Church in New Brunswick, NJ), and Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), Priest Vitaly Lalyukov (parish cleric), and parish Deacons Fiodor Tulbur and Leonid Volchok.

The parish choir sang the service sweetly under the direction of choir conductor Gregory Ivanov.

The Sacrament was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

Upon completion of the service, Metropolitan Nicholas greeted Fr. Paul, thanking him for his invitation to officiate the Sacrament, and thanked all of the clergy for their joint prayers.

A supper was then offered in the parish hall by head sister Maria Ponevach and Natalia Kosinsky.
