On May 26, the Sunday of the Paralytic, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Serving alongside the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad was Archpriest Stefan Pavlenko (rector of All Saints of Russia Church in Burlingame, CA), as well as cathedral clerics: dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Archpriest Seraphim Chemodakov, and Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff & Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY).
Prayerfully singing was the Synodal choir under the direction of Vadim S. Gan. The service was held under the aegis of the Protectress of the Russian Diaspora ‒ the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.
During Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas greeted the faithful with the words "Christ is Risen!" Almost all of the cathedral parishioners and guests received Christ’s Holy Mysteries that day.
Upon conclusion of the service, His Eminence greeted the faithful with a sermon on the Gospel reading of the paralytic and called on them to follow the Savior’s commandments and the teachings of the Holy Church.
The cathedral sisterhood invited the clergy and all those gathered for a luncheon.
