On Friday, November 3, the feast of Venerable Hilarion, Schemamonk of the Kiev Caves, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York performed an archpastoral visit to Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY to honor the namesday of Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral; +2022), sixth First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad.
His Eminence celebrated Divine Liturgy at 6:00 AM in the monastery cathedral, co-served by monastery abbot Bishop Luke of Syracuse and a number of diocesan, monastery, and visiting clergy. The seminary choir sang under the direction of Priest Ephraim Wilmarth.
Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Nicholas delivered a sermon touching on the life of Metropolitan Hilarion and the importance of emulating his kindness and love for all.
In the afternoon, after a fraternal repast, the clergy went in procession behind Holy Trinity Cathedral to Metropolitan Hilarion’s gravesite, where the First Hierarch served a panihida.
