On Thursday, June, 8 a new skete was officially opened in Coconut Creek, FL. Holy Great Martyr & Healer Panteleimon Skete is a dependency of the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension in Resaca, GA.
The superior of the skete is Archimandrite Maximos (Weimar), who is also abbot of St. Dionysios the Areopagite Monastery in St. James, NY, and the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension.
Fr. Maximos addressed the faithful, noting: "Our new skete is a dependency of the Monastery of the Glorious Ascension originally blessed by Metropolitan Hilarion of thrice blessed memory, but brought in existence by our beloved archpastor Metropolitan Nicholas, a worthy successor of Metropolitan Hilarion! His Eminence blessed our formal creation on the Feast of the Apostles Carpus & Alphæus this year.
"We ask for prayers as we begin the daunting task of building a facility and a community."
Fr. Maximos spent nearly two weeks at the skete, organizing the community’s spiritual life there. On Sunday, June 25, the abbot celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by Hieromonk Felipe (Balingit; cleric of the Philippines Mission). On Sunday, July 2, he celebrated Liturgy himself, and offered the faithful words of instruction.
