On Sunday, July 2, the community of Misión San Juan de Shanghai y San Francisco in Matagalpa, Nicaragua, had the joy of celebrating its patronal feast – the commemoration of the Holy Hierarch John. With a prayerful attitude, the clergy and faithful began the services in preparation for Divine Liturgy, being embellished by the choir of young people.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, a greeting to the mission parish from His Eminence, Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, in which the ruling bishop reflected on the challenges faced by the Mission of the Orthodox Church in Latin American countries, was read aloud.

After the service, a brotherly luncheon was held, organized by the community’s sisterhood. With the help of generous people, the parish was able to share food with 80 children from the area and recreational activities were carried out under the initiative of Matushka María Valle, during which the faithful had an opportunity to talk about the life of their Heavenly patron.

May the Lord direct and increase the good path of the Orthodox Mission in Nicaragua, through the prayers of the Holy Wonderworker John!
