New York City: Metropolitan Nicholas prayerfully marks Anniversary of Hierarchal Consecration

On Thursday, 29 June, the feast of the Holy Hierach Tychon, Bishop of Amathus, the Holy Martyrs Tygrius the Priest and Eutopius the Reader, Venerable Tychon of Kaluga and Moses of Optina, the Hieromartyr Hermogenes, Bishop of Tobolsk, and the Translation of the Relics of the Holy Hierarch Theophan, Recluse of Vysha, His Eminence Nicholas, Metropolitan of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, celebrated Divine Liturgy in the downstairs St. Sergius Church at the Synodal Headquarters in New York City.

Concelebrating with the Metropolitan were Archpriest Mark Burachek (dean of the Hudson Valley) and Hierodeacon Panteleimon (Jigalin; diocesan cleric).

Praying at the service were members of the Synodal Chancery and parishioners of the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign.

After the service, His Eminence served a moleben to the Most Holy Theotokos and St. John of Shanghai & San Francisco before the Harbin Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" (which was miraculously renewed in 1931), and an icon of St. John.

On Saturday, the 28th and Sunday the 29th of June, 2014, the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the glorification of the righteous Archbishop John (Maximovitch) took place in San Francisco’s Cathedral of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," a well as the rite of nomination and consecration of Archimandrite Nicholas (Olhovsky) as Bishop of Manhattan, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese.
