Nanuet, NY: On Thomas Sunday, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal celebrates Liturgy at Novo-Diveevo Convent

On April 23, the 2nd Sunday of Pascha, dedicated to the Holy Apostle Thomas, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada celebrated Divine Liturgy in St. Seraphim Cathedral of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were cathedral dean Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski and convent clerics: Priests Artem Siss and Alexei Klar, and Deacon Nicholas Ilyin, as well as Abbot Arseny (Manko; rector of Sts. Cosmas & Damian Church in Passaic, NJ).

At the festal divine service, the parish choir sang under the direction of Matushka Maria Fedorowski. Together with believers, Abbess Makaria, rectress of Novo-Diveevo Convent, prayed at the divine service with the sisters.

Most worshippers in the temple confessed and communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

At the end of the festal Liturgy, His Eminence relayed the blessing and greeting of the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York. He also thanked the clergy, choir, and parishioners for their prayers.

A procession was held through the grounds to the cemetery, where Archbishop Gabriel served a general panihida for all of the departed hierarchs, monastics, and Orthodox Christians buried in the convent cemetery at Novo-Diveevo.

Memorial services at the graves were served throughout the day.

All those who gathered on the beautiful spring day, shared the light of the great feast of Christ’s Pascha.
