New York City: Divine Services, Reading of Canon of St. Andrew of Crete held in Synodal Cathedral

With the start of Great Lent, the divine services with the reading of the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete were held in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. On Monday, February 27, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America & New York officiated Great Compline with the reading of the Great Canon.

The Synodal choir sang the services with tender devotion under the direction of Vadim S. Gan. The Protectress of the Russian Diaspora – the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God – was present in the cathedral. In the Synod’s lower St. Sergius Church, Abbot Zosimas (Krampis) read the Great Canon for English-speaking parishioners.

On Wednesday, March 1, the First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad celebrated the first Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts this year in the Cathedral of the Sign, co-served by cathedral clergy.

On Saturday, March 4, the feast of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore the Tyro, Metropolitan Nicholas celebrated Divine Liturgy.
