On February 12 ‒ the Sunday of the Prodigal Son and the date when the Holy Church honors the Synaxis of the Three Great Hierarchs and Universal Teachers Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom ‒ Three Hierarchs Church in Hollywood, FL celebrated its patronal feast day. The day before the feast, parishioners spent a Saturday workday preparing the church and adorning their patronal icon.
At the invitation of parish cleric Archimandrite Siluan (Lembei), concelebrating at the festal Divine Liturgy were: Archimandrite Stefan (Khilchuk; rector of Our Lady of Pochaev Church in North Port, FL), Priest Mykhailo Mykhailenko (cleric of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL), and Hierodeacon Paisius (Alexeevets; UOC cleric).
Singing the divine service was the parish choir under the direction of conductor Vladimir Logozinsky. More than 100 parishioners and faithful from other churches, including many children, prayed at the service. Most of the faithful communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.
Fr. Mykhailo addressed those gathered with a sermon, telling them about the history of the feast and the theological legacy of the Holy Hierarchs Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. Archimandrites Siluan and Stefan also greeted the clergy and faithful with the feast.
Upon completion of Liturgy, a procession was held around the church.
The feast concluded with a festal luncheon lovingly prepared by the parish sisterhood.
