Des Plaines, IL: Feast of Three Holy Hierarchs celebrated in Holy Protection Diocesan Cathedral

On Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of February, His Grace Nicholas, Bishop of Manhattan, visited the Diocese of Chicago & Mid-America.

Arriving in Chicago, the Eastern American Diocesan vicar visited St. Sava Serbian Monastery in Libertyville, IL, where he served a moleben before the relics of Venerable Mardarije (Uskoković) of Libertyville.

Later in the day, with the blessing of Archbishop Peter of Chicago & Mid-America, Bishop Nicholas officiated the All-Night Vigil for the feast of the Synaxis of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Holy Protection Diocesan Cathedral in Des Plaines, IL.

On Saturday morning, Archbishop Peter celebrated Divine Liturgy for the feast, co-served by Archbishop Paul of Chicago & the Midwest (OCA), Bishop Nicholas, and diocesan and visiting clergy.

Liturgy was held under the aegis of the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow," usually housed in the lower chapel of St. Sergius in the Synodal Headquarters in New York City.

During Liturgy, after the Great Entrance, Archbishop Peter ordained Deacon Nicholas Lochmatow (cleric of Holy Protection Cathedral) a priest.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Archbishop Peter greeted the visiting hierarchs with the feast, congratulating all of the alumni of Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY present that day with the patronal feast of their alma mater.
