Nanuet, NY: Patronal Feast Day of St. Seraphim Cathedral at "Novo-Diveevo" Convent

On Saturday, January 15, the commemoration of the repose and second finding of the relics of Venerable Seraphim of Sarov, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan visited Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY, on the occasion of the patronal feast day of its St. Seraphim Cathedral, and celebrated the festal Divine Liturgy.

Concelebrating with His Grace were: Archpriest Alexander Fedorowski (cathedral dean), Archpriest Mark Burachek (convent senior priest), Archpriest Serge Ledkovsky (deputy rector of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), and convent clergy: Priests Artem Siss & Alexei Klar, Protodeacon Serge Arlievsky, and Deacon Nicholas Ilyin.

Liturgy was held under the aegis of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. Singing at the Divine Liturgy was a joint children’s choir from the convent and various other parishes in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut under the direction of Matushka Patricia Klar.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas congratulated the clergy and faithful with the feast. He especially noted the prayerfulness of the choir, expressing his desire that the tradition be upheld for the annual winter feast of Venerable Seraphim.

After the service, the sisterhood of the Holy Protection Church in Nyack, NY organized a festal reception for all.
