The organizers of St. Herman Youth Conference had hoped to be able to host a limited in-person conference with a few lectures and services at St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ. Unfortunately, with the beginnings of a possible new surge in COVID virus cases and more restrictions in the quarantine status, not only in New Jersey but in most neighboring states, it will be impossible to have a gathering for lectures or social time.
In an effort to maintain the possibility of spiritual encouragement for our youth, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York has blessed the conference to host divine services for the feast of Venerable Herman Alaska in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. The services will be dedicated specifically to the St. Herman Youth and will be livestreamed over the Internet. Organizers are hopeful that many of the diocesan youth will avail themselves of this wonderful opportunity to participate in the services. In-person services for the feast will be limited to 35 faithful as required by cathedral regulations, and will be on a first come, first served basis. The first 35 people to register will be included in the quota.
The divine services will be the All-Night Vigil, served on Thursday, December 24, at 4:00 PM. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 25, at 9:30 AM. Information concerning the streaming services will be made public in the immediate future on the webpage, as well as on Facebook.
Organizers also encourage the clergy who are faithful supporters of St. Herman Conference to attend the divine services and serve on the feast. Clergy should contact the conference director, Archpriest Alexis Duncan, at email@example.com.
