On October 31, the Holy Church commemorates the Holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke. This is the namesday of Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Luke of Syracuse, who serves as abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery and rector of Holy Trinity Seminary in Jordanville, NY.
After the usual services of Vespers and Matins on Friday the afternoon prior, Bishop Luke celebrated hierarchal Divine Liturgy, following the Midnight Office, at 6:00 AM on Saturday morning. Liturgy concluded with a small moleben and the traditional intoning of the Polychronion.
Co-serving with Bishop Luke was the monastery clergy. Singing at the divine services was the seminary choir under the direction of Deacon Nicholas Kotar.
After the service, a luncheon was held in the monastery refectory.
