New York City: On 10th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates Liturgy in Synodal Cathedral

On August 16, the 10th Sunday after Pentecost and the date when the Holy Church honors the memory of Venerable Anthony the Roman, Wonderworker of Novgorod, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern American & New York celebrate Divine Liturgy in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archimandrite Stefan (Hilchuk; rector of Our Lady of Pochaev Church in North Port, FL), cathedral dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Andrei Edward Chervinsky, and Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff (cathedral clerics) and Eugene Kallaur (cleric of St. Seraphim Memorial Church in Sea Cliff, NY).

Liturgy was celebrated under the aegis of the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. The choir sang under the direction of Protodeacon Vadim Gan.

After the Eucharistic Canon, Metropolitan Hilarion ordained Subdeacon Nenad Flora to the diaconate. The newly ordained Deacon Nenad, once ordained to the priesthood, will fulfill his service at St. Seraphim of Sarov Mission in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. In the future, Fr. Nenad hopes, with God’s help, to establish an Orthodox mission in the country’s capital of Santo Domingo.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion greeted the faithful with the feast and wished them God’s blessing and aid in the ongoing days of the Dormition Fast.
