Brooklyn NY: Bishop Nicholas leads Patronal Feast of Holy Myrrhbearers Church

On May 3, the Third Sunday of Holy Pascha, of the Myrrh-bearing Women, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Myrrhbearers Church in Brooklyn, NY, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy in honor of the parish’s patronal feast. Concelebrating with His Grace was parish rector Archpriest Paul Ivanov.

In accordance with the ongoing restrictions in place to combat the Coronavirus pandemic, the service was held in the presence of a small group of parishioners, who came to sing in the choir, help serve in the altar, and keep the church clean. Most of the faithful remained at home, and followed the service online via live-stream.

Upon completion of the service, Bishop Nicholas greeted Fr. Paul and the parishioners with the joyous Paschal feast, thanking them for their prayers and longsuffering in this time of trial. His Grace spoke briefly about the great feats of the Holy Myrrh-bearing Women, who likewise endured great sufferings and trials for the sake of Christ and His Gospel.
