Atlanta, GA: Metropolitan Hilarion pays Archpastoral Visit to Joy of All Who Sorrow Church

On Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of November, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York paid an archpastoral visit to Our Lady "Joy of All Who Sorrow" Church in Cumming (Atlanta), GA. Several days prior, on November 6, the parish celebrated its patronal feast day of the Icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow."

On Saturday, November 9, His Eminence led the All-Night Vigil, co-served by Archpriest Sergei Okunev (cleric of the Diocese of Australia & New Zealand), Priest Eugene Antonov (parish rector), Priest Benedict Simpson (rector of All Saints of North American Mission in Decatur, GA), and Deacons Andrei Psarev (cleric of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY) and Anton Kouznetsov (parish cleric).

On Sunday, November 19, the First Hierarch of ROCOR celebrated Divine Liturgy, co-served by Archpriest Dimitri Oselinsky (cleric of neighboring St. Marty of Egypt Church in Atlanta) and Frs. Sergei, Eugene, Andrei, and Anton.

A multitude of parishioners prayed at the divine services, most of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries at Liturgy.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion, the clergy and faithful held a procession around the church.

Upon returning inside, His Eminence awarded diocesan gramotas to parishioners for their active labors on behalf of the parish: warden Dionysy Panferov, Matushka Irina Antonov, Mautshka Irina Kouznetsov, and Taisia Lutskov for their work in organizing the sisterhood; Inna Yakimovich, Ekaterina Kouznetsov, Dionysy Dorozhkin, and Vladimir Sapronov for their work teaching in the parish school.

After the Sunday service, the sisterhood prepared a festal luncheon for all.

A lecture on the history of ROCOR was prepared for the clergy and parishioners during the parish festivities by Fr. Andrei Psarev.
