New York City: Bishop Nicholas leads Patronal Feast of Holy Fathers Church

On October 27, the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan paid an archpastoral visit to Holy Fathers Church in New York City, where he celebrated Divine Liturgy in honor of the parish’s patronal feast day.

Concelebrating with His Grace were parish rector Archpriest Alexander Botschagow and Protodeacon Dimitri Temidis (cleric of Holy Virgin Protection Church in Nyack, NY).

At the Little Entrance, with the blessing of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, Bishop Nicholas awarded Fr. Alexander the right to wear the jeweled cross.

The church was immaculate with flowers adorning most of the icons.

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, a moleben was served to the Most Holy Theotokos and to the Holy Fathers of the Seven Ecumenical Councils. His Grace then greeted all those present and delivered a sermon, in which he spoke about the history of the Seventh Ecumenical Council, noting in particular the importance of having the holy icons adorn our churches and homes.

For her many years of being a dedicated parishioner and recently for helping the parish avoid financial difficulties, Bishop Nicholas honored Catherine Schmidt presented her an icon of the Mother of God.
