New York City: Patronal Feast Day of St. Sergius Mission at Synodal Headquarters

On Monday the 7th and Tuesday the 8th of October, festal divine services were held in honor of the feast of the repose of Venerable Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh and Wonderworker of All Russia, and the patronal feast day of the eponymous church and English Mission at the Synodal Headquarters in New York City. Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal & Canada led the All-Night Vigil on Monday evening, while on Tuesday morning Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, celebrated Divine Liturgy.

Joining the hierarchs at the divine services were: cathedral dean Archpriest Andrei Sommer, Abbot Vladimir (Zgoba; rector of Our Lady "Unexpected Joy" Church in Staten Island, NY), Abbot Zosimas (Krampis; rector of the English Mission), Archpriest Andrei Rudenko (cleric of St. Alexander Nevsky Memorial Church in Richmond, ME), Protodeacon Nicolas Mokhoff (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral), and Deacon Nicholas Ilyin (cleric of Holy Dormition Convent "Novo-Diveevo" in Nanuet, NY). The choir sang prayerfully under the direction of Matushka Eugenia Temidis.

Despite its being a weekday, a multitude of parishioners of the mission, the cathedral, and other churches in the city gathered to pray at Liturgy. Most of the worshippers communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of the service, Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated the clergy and faithful with their patronal feast. A festal luncheon was served in the cathedral hall, during which interaction between the clergy and parishioners continued.
