Coconut Creek, FL: Bishop Nicholas leads Patronal Feast of St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church

On Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th of June, the Sunday of All Russian Saints, Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan paid an archpastoral visit to St. Luke the Blessed Surgeon Church in Coconut Creek, FL. His Grace’s visit was timed in honor of the parish’s patronal feast, which would take place on Monday, June 11.

In greeting the diocesan vicar on Saturday evening, parish rector Priest Demetrio Romeo expressed his sincere thanks for His Grace’s archpastoral love and care. At All-Night Vigil, Bishop Nicholas was co-served by Fr. Demetrio and Deacon Dimitry Doohovsky (cleric of St. Vladimir Church in Miami, FL).

On Sunday morning, during the Sixth Hour, Reader Dimitri Pavlenkov was elevated to the rank of subdeacon, and John "Alfonso" Cristafaro was tonsured a reader. Upon completion of Divine Liturgy, Bishop Nicholas delivered a short sermon, and greeted the parishioners of St. Luke’s Church, as well as the students, teachers, and parents of Paideia Classical Academy (on the grounds of which the church is located) on the occasion of their patronal feast. His Grace congratulated and thanked Fr. Demetrio for his dedication and hard work in the church and school.

A luncheon followed in the academy’s grand hall.
