Boston, MA: Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan leads Festal Services in Holy Epiphany Church

On Saturday, January 20th, Eastern American Diocesan Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, visited Holy Epiphany Church in Boston, MA, where he led the divine services. His Grace’s visit was timed for the parish festivities in honor of its patronal feast, which had taken place on Friday, January 19. Before the All Night Vigil, the faithful greeted the wonder-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God.

On the morning of Sunday, January 21, the clergy, warden, and faithful greeted Bishop Nicholas. Concelebrating with Bishop Nicholas at Liturgy were the parish rector, Archpriest Victor Boldewskul, and the parish clergy: Archpriest Thomas Reske, Protodeacon Alexander Jarostchuk, Protodeacon Victor Ganson, and Deacon Alexander Kurenkov. Joining the local clergy were Protopresbyter Alexandar Vlajkovic (St. Sava Serbian Cathedral in Cambridge, MA) and Priest Kevin Kalish (cleric of Holy New Martyrs of Russia Church in Norwich, CT).

Upon conclusion of Liturgy, His Grace blessed the new iconostasis, which was carved by Fr. Thomas with the financial support from the parish sisterhood.

Bishop Nicholas congratulated the parish on a successful completion of the parish renovation and expansion project, as well, and encouraged the parishioners to continue their work in fostering a vibrant parish life and in beautifying the church.

Following the Liturgy, parishioners gathered down the street at the parish hall of St. Nektarios Greek Church for a festal banquet. At the reception, the children put on a performance, and the choir sang a few pieces.

In his remarks, Fr. Victor thanked His Grace for his continual support of the parish and his gratitude to the visiting clergy. Father Victor noted that in eight years, the parish will celebrate its 75th anniversary, preparations for which should begin now. With the church expansion and renovation project completed – a complicated endeavor that took years of planning, but was ultimately completed efficiently within six months – the parish needs to focus on paying off the loan ahead of schedule, so that planning and work can begin in building a new parish hall and center by the 75th anniversary.
