New York City: Patronal Feast Day of St. Sergius Church at the Synodal Headquarters

On Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of October, the feast of the repost of Venerable Sergius, Abbot of Radonezh and Wonderworker of All Russia, St. Sergius Mission Church at the Synodal Headquarters in New York City celebrated its patronal feast day.

In St. Sergius Church, the divine services were led by the cathedral’s senior priest, Archpriest Andrei Sommer, co-served by Archpriest Ioann Chervinsky (cleric of the Diocese of Kursk), Hieromonk Zosimas (Krampis; rector of the English Mission), and Protodeacons Nicolas Mokhoff (cleric of the Synodal Cathedral) and Nathan Mousselli (cleric of St. Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ), as well as visiting clergy from Russia.

On the eve of the feast, the All-Night Vigil was sung by the Synodal choir, while Liturgy was sung by two choirs: the Synodal Cathedral choir under the direction of Matushka Eugenia Temidis, and the English Mission choir. A multitude of parishioners gathered for the divine services, many of whom communed of Christ’s Holy Mysteries.

Upon completion of Liturgy, Fr. Ioann Chervinsky reminisced about his time at Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad.

Despite the inclement weather, the sisterhood and brotherhood prepared a barbeque lunch for the clergy, parishioners, and guests.
