Brooklyn, NY: Patronal Feast of St. Joasaph of Belgorod Church

On Sunday, September 17, the feast of the Finding of the Relics of the Holy Hierarch Joasaph of Belgorod, the parishioners of St. Joasaph Church in Brooklyn, NY celebrated their patronal feast day.

Celebrating Divine Liturgy on the day of the feast was parish rector Archpriest Boris Oparin, co-served by Archpriest Petro Kunitsky and Protodeacon Petr Utkin (clerics of neighboring Holy New Martyrs & Confessors of Russia Church in Brooklyn). Upon completion of the service, Fr. Petro addressed the gathered faithful with a sermon on the importance of the love of Christ between members of the parish, which had been achieved by the church’s faithful.

In his own greeting, Fr. Boris thanked his co-brothers for coming to share in the joy of the feast, and thanked all of the parishioners for the hard work they had done to benefit the life of the parish, noting the labors and sincere support received from the sisterhood and certain of the most active parishioners.

After Liturgy, a bountiful luncheon was served in the parish hall, during which the clergy and parishioners sang various pious, spiritual songs.
