New York City: Hierarchs of the Russian Church Abroad pray in Synodal Cathedral of the Sign at First Services of Great Lent

On February, Pure Monday of the First Week of Great Lent, Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America & New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, prayed in the altar during the usual divine services in the Synodal Cathedral of the Sign in New York City. Matins, Hours, Typica, Vespers, and a Litiya for the Departed were served. Also praying during the divine services were Eastern American Diocesan vicar Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, cathedral clergy, Synod of Bishops office staff, and parishioners.

Upon completion of the service, His Eminence offered his Primatial blessing to the faithful, wishing them a salvific Lent.

That same evening, Metropolitan Hilarion led Compline in the cathedral with the reading of the Great Penitential Canon of St. Andrew of Crete. The choir sang the divine services under the direction of Peter Fekula.

On Wednesday, March 1, His Eminence served the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the Synodal Cathedral.
